WENGER: AFRICAN PLAYERS HAVE HAD A HUGE IMPACT ON ME

Arsene Wenger says African players have had a huge impact on his career as a football manager highlighting Kanu, Kolo Toure and George Weah as three of his favourites.

Answering a question from BBC Africa in his pre-Burnley press conference – a gathering dominated by questions about his 20-year tenure at Arsenal – the boss reflected on a relationship with African players that started while in charge at Monaco.

“African players had a massive impact on my career because I always managed them right from the moment I started in the top league in France,” said Wenger.

“I had African players at Monaco and I like the fact that they were creative and they are usually attacking players with imagination. They have pace and power as well, and they usually combine strength and agility well. That’s very difficult to find.

“Africans are hugely passionate people and there is a big passion in Africa for the game. They are happy on the football pitch and that’s something which has been fantastic for us.

“Kanu had a massive impact here, Kolo Toure too, I had George Weah too… so all these players had a massive impact.”

Wenger’s relationship with Liberian striker Weah was so strong that the player dedicated his FIFA World Player of the Year award to his manager.

In a recent interview with FIFA TV, Weah reflected: “Every time I was going on the field. I was playing for Arsene Wenger.

“I wanted him to know that what he had done for me, this is the way I could pay him. I would break my knee, my hand, my face for him just to win the game.

“He took care of me like a son and I couldn’t believe that because when racism was at its peak, Arsene taught me that black men and white men can live together.”

Ethiopian Born New Zealand Man who tried to Join ISIS Jailed in Australia

A wannabe Islamic State terrorist who was stopped from travelling to Syria was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison and told he 'would not have lasted long' if he'd made it to the war-torn republic. Melbourne man Amin Mohamed, 26, booked a one-way ticket to Istanbul, Turkey in 2013 to lend his services to the conflict, a Supreme Court heard. Mohamed quit his job and told his boss he needed to take his terminally ill mother to her home country to die, according to Nine News.

In sentencing the Ethiopian born, New Zealand national today, Justice Lex Lasry told him he would not have had any hope of surviving if he'd made it to Syria, according to the Herald Sun. 'You do not seem to have any previous experience that would have equipped you for what you apparently wanted to do,' Justice Lasry said. 'That may be a clear indicator of how misguided your state of mind was at the time.'

Mohamed made arrangements to fly to Turkey where he planned to cross into Syria, with the help of a fellow Islamic State fighter, set up by ISIS recruiter Hamdi Al Qudsi. Before his passport was cancelled on September 19, 2013, Mohamed was very active in his attempts to get to the war-torn nation, the court heard.

a rare condition, and perhaps will always be judged by his looks? “I am not unhappy, nor do I feel any sorrow that my son is different,” Biswajit says without betraying any emotion.

Can you even imagine of a new-born baby having wrinkles on the face, hollow eyes and a shrunken body and resembling as he is an 80-year-old?

And you are definitely wrong if you are thinking that this is a scene straight out of ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.’

As we are talking about a baby boy who was born in Bangladesh’s ‘Magura’ district on Sunday afternoon. The Newborn baby is born with a rare medical condition called ‘Progeria.’

Can You Imagine of A New-Born Boy Who looks like an 80 Years old? Well then meet This Boy from Bangladesh

But Will the Boy survive for a long ?

Most Progeria patients die very young age, but the family, however, hopes that the baby will grow into a healthy boy. Also, the doctors at the hospital say that, for the time, both the mother and the newborn are doing well.

“The baby looks old because his father also looks more than his age. I just hope that the baby will lead a long and healthy life,” says Arabindu Mondal, the baby’s maternal uncle.

In February this year, a 4-year-old boy Bayezid of ‘Khalia’ village was diagnosed with Progeria. Incidentally, Bayezid’s village is not very far from the newborn’s. In the first week of August, doctors at the local hospital in Madura suggested that Bayezid be sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

Though the Parents are overjoyed with the arrival of new family member

The parents of this boy belong to a really poor family in ‘Bhulbaria’ Village in Bangladesh. Parul Patro is the mother of the boy and wife of Biswajit Patro, a poor farmer.

However, the family has been busy meeting relatives and several curious villagers, all flocking the hospital to see if babies, like her son, really exist.

Parul and family are ecstatic to have a new member join their family of three. Tell Biswajit, the father, that his son resembles him, and he breaks into a big smile. “Our first child, Aparna, has taken after her mother. But my boy looks like me, and I am happy,” he says.

Saudi executes Ethiopian for murdering a child

Saudi Arabia on Monday executed an Ethiopian woman convicted of killing a Saudi child, the interior ministry said. It was the 124th execution of a foreigner or Saudi this year in the kingdom, according to an AFP tally of ministry statements.

Zamzam Abdullah Boric was put to death in Riyadh after being found guilty, the ministry said. Boric cut the girl's throat ‘and left her in the bathroom until she died’, the ministry said, without giving a motive for the crime or stating the Ethiopian's occupation.

Ethiopians are among the millions of expatriates employed in the oil-rich kingdom. Many work as domestic helpers. Most people put to death in Saudi Arabia are beheaded with a sword. Saudi Arabia has a strict Islamic legal code under which murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy are all punishable by death.

Amnesty International says the kingdom carried out at least 158 death sentences in 2015, making it the third most prolific executioner after Iran and Pakistan. Amnesty's figures do not include secretive China.

Murder and drug trafficking cases account for the majority of Saudi executions, although 47 people were put to death for ‘terrorism’ on a single day in January. GulfTimes
